The Project Continues...

We kept working on the upstairs room today. But first....














I took a nap with little cat. This was a couple nights ago.


















Gaea and I went to Gary and Joseph's party. We had chicken and beer and rice and salad and bread and brownies and ice cream.

Back to the project. After a leisurely breakfast we went upstairs and got to work. We scraped as much paint off the floor as we could. We scraped the walls. We spakled the walls. I took out a light fixture. The ceiling is only about 6'6" so I knock the light bulb out with my head. Gaea is a master spakler.














The ceiling was covered in star stickers. I scraped them all off.


















Once we finished the spakling, we had lunch and got ready to go to home depot for more supplies. Gaea called Brian. We got a drink at all city coffee. I had Blackberry soda. Gaea had a cream soda (with straws). Brian had an iced chai. Then went to uwajimaya and got dinner food. Flank steak, swiss chard, mustard greens, yukon gold potatoes, yams, mushrooms. Then we went to home depot. Gaea nearly had the life sucked out of her. Luckily we made it out.


















We got a special treat at uwajimaya. Yum...

Then Gaea started making dinner. I started the grill.


















The cat watches the backyard. The coals are ready so I have to go now.

The First Project

Gaea and I are starting our first house project together. We're cleaning up the upstairs - tearing up the carpet, repainting, and cleaning. Gaea is really excited:



















We moved all the stuff from one room to another, ripped out all the nasty green astroturf carpet, then started scraping the blue paint off the floor. After about 5 minutes Gaea got a giant paint chip in her eye. She got it out but said no more scraping until we have safety glasses. So we headed to home depot. We got a paint scraper and blades, 5 cans of paint, masking tape, safety glasses, cleaning supplies, paint rollers and pans, and other stuff. By the time the paint was done mixing, we'd probably spent an hour in home depot. And we were hungry. So we went home and had a snack:




















Then we went back to work scraping paint. Gaea worked on the floor and I worked on the walls. Then we got tired and quit.
